Michael's Genuine
About This Spot
Walking into Michael’s Genuine in Miami’s Design District feels like stepping into a space where sincerity and craftsmanship meet without pretense. The ambiance strikes a balance between effortlessly lively and warmly inviting, giving every guest the chance to settle in at a relaxed pace, whether catching up with friends over brunch or unwinding after a day’s work. There’s a comforting hum of conversation that blends naturally with the open kitchen and bustling bar, creating an atmosphere that feels both unguarded and thoughtfully curated.
Here, the focus is as much on genuine human connection as it is on the food and drink. The menu reflects a dedication to honest ingredients and simple techniques, coming to life through dishes that echo comfort with subtle twists—like the memorable crispiness of pig ears or the wood-fired nuance brought to octopus and freshly baked pizzas. Pairing these with a thoughtfully assembled wine list or the approachable yet refined cocktails from the bar rounds out an experience that feels personal and satisfying, rather than scripted.
What stays with you beyond the flavors is the sense of attentiveness woven throughout the service. The team moves with an informed warmth that anticipates your needs without rushing or intrusion. It’s the kind of place where a server’s care turns a meal into a shared moment, where a bartender’s knowledge and approachable spirit elevate a simple drink into a highlight. This genuine attentiveness, paired with a vibrant but never overwhelming energy, captures the heartbeat of Michael’s Genuine.
The space is far from a showy stage—it’s a neighborhood favorite where both longtime locals and newcomers find a genuine welcome. There’s an easy rhythm here, one that encourages slowing down and savoring not just the food, but the human moments that inevitably unfold over the table.

We had a truly fantastic dining experience today, thanks entirely to our server, Sarah. Her service was nothing short of phenomenal. Sarah demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to making our meal enjoyable, excelling in every aspect of her role. Her attention to detail was outstanding—she anticipated our needs efficiently and professionally. Beyond her impeccable service, Sarah also possesses a great sense of humour, which made the entire interaction memorable and fun. She is a remarkable asset to this restaurant, and we highly recommend seeking her out on your next visit! Thank you, Sarah!

Great lunch/brunch with friends. Friendly and welcoming. A little over priced but worth it. Food is little bland for my taste and some of the items were a bit salty for our taste. But it was packed and vibrant. Loved the atmosphere. Also the 1/2 chicken was not really half rather it was quarter

Mike is the perfect example of fantastic customer services and we enjoyed our meal. To top off the great service and compaction, we ordered a danish that I personally did not like much and the manager sent me another desert that was delish and they did not charge me for neither. What a great experience and will definitely come back again and again and will recommend to everyone I know…thank you so much!

Wow. Wow. WOW. That’s all I have to say about Michael’s. I came in with zero expectations and left FLOORED. The service from the bartenders Salgi (Slagi?) & Jake were absolutely phenomenal. And beyond that, yeah, they were Michelin rated, but I don’t care about that when checking a place out, but they ABSOLUTELY deserved it. Their happy hour was by far one of the best I ever experienced in Miami. Their apps are $6 & cocktails $10. Their amazing. Don’t miss out on this and go NOW.

Michael’s Genuine is consistently recommended by everyone who works in the neighborhood. We went again last Wednesday, after it was personally suggested by Antoine Brandt from Versace, and once more it did not disappoint. The service is exceptional: warm, attentive, and genuinely professional. The staff elevates the entire experience, and you can feel how well the team is trained. Every dish feels intentional and beautifully executed. Whether for lunch, dinner, or a pre-fashion-event stop, Michael’s Genuine remains a reliable, high-quality choice. Always a pleasure to return.

Michael’s Genuine is truly a Miami gem. With a rotating menu, you can visit multiple times and never eat the same thing twice. Prices are typical Miami prices, so don’t expect a cheap bill, but the quality makes it worth it. The truffle pizza was the highlight of the night, the cocktails were incredible, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. The ambiance is beautiful, and every dish we tried was outstanding. The dessert— the coquito tres leches — was absolutely to die for. This place is a must-visit in Miami!

We loved Michael’s Genuine so much that we ate there two days in a row—dinner one night and lunch the next—and every single dish was exceptional. At lunch, we had the cobia sandwich and the burger, both perfectly executed and incredibly satisfying. We started with the house-made potato chips and onion dip, which were addictive in the best way. We also ordered the tuna carpaccio again after having it the night before for dinner—and it was hands down the best tuna carpaccio we’ve ever had. Consistent, fresh, and beautifully balanced. Beyond the food, the experience really stands out. The staff are attentive and genuinely courteous, and the restaurant is clearly very well managed. Everything runs smoothly without feeling rushed or pretentious. The location is fantastic—set among beautiful shops with great people watching, which adds to the overall experience. Definitely use the valet for parking; it makes things easy and stress-free. A true standout in Miami—this is the kind of place you immediately plan to return to.
